Three of our partners will be presenting at this Conference, which has renown speakers focusing on strategies and techniques for the treatment and management of water resources.  Our presentations will all be on March 11th:

At 8:30 a.m., Gus Simmons, speaks on Remote Telemetry:  Innovative Solutions for Managing a Remote Wastewater Site.”  Gus’s presentation will examine  alternative, innovative solutions, such as solar-powered radio controls  that were custom-designed for irrigation managment system(s).

At 1:30 p.m., Steve Cavanaugh presents, “Georgia’s Innnovation Continuum:  Statewide Water Loss Management Gets Creative to Leverage Long-Term Improvements.”  This paper explores the challenges, lessons learned and compelling outcomes which have occurred as Georgia blazes the trail for Statewide Water Loss Management.

At 2:40 p.m., Will Jernigan presents:Water Loss Insanity:  Small Southeast Town Gets Intense, Slashes Loss 65%,” which is a case study of how Cavanaugh helped a town dramatically change their Water Loss Resource Management strategies, practices and thinking enabling them to save an incredible amount of money!

March 19th – 20th    WRRI Annual Conference,  Raleigh, N.C.

Water Resources Research Institute (WRRI) of the University of North Carolina System’s Annual Conference will be held at the Jane S. McKimmon Center in Raleigh, NC.  Cavanaugh has three presentations on March 20th at this conference which demonstrates the critical role that local governments play in managing water. 

9:00a.m. – Rachel Harris, will be presenting  a case study entitled “Water Loss Insanity” which depicts how the Town of Rutherford College creatively implemented a Water Loss program which slashed Water Loss by 65%. 

10:00 a.m. – Gus Simmons will present “Going Viral” which will canvas the validated benchmarks for Water Loss in North America.  You will discover how some states are blazing a trail, and how industry benchmarks are emerging to create a water audit data set in North America.

3:0o p.m. – Gus Simmons describes how the Town of Surf City used innovative telecommunication strategies to communicate with the remote sprayfield irrigation site in his presentation:  “Innovative Solutions for Managing a Remote Wastewater Site.”

Internationally Speaking…

March 30th-April 5th   IWA’s  Water Loss 2014,   Vienna, Austria

Steve Cavanaugh and Will Jernigan travel abroad to present at the International Water Association’s Water Loss 2014 in Vienna, Austria,  March 30-April 5th, a conference which discusses the latest developments, strategies, techniques and applications of international best practices in Non-Revenue Water Management.   Steve will be co-presenting with Dr. Mihai Dorus on the “Cross Border Cooperation – An International Initiative for Water Stewardship.”  Their presentation will cover the topic of widespread implementation of best practices for water efficiency in drinking water systems in the Dniester and Danube Deltas.   Will Jernigan will be presenting an exploration of the notion that we now approach a tipping point in the U.S. for the management and regulation of water losses for our distribution systems.  His presentation “State of the States” examines the implementation of water loss regulations in those early adopting states, and conveys insight into which states may be blazing a trail, and which are on the cusp of regulatory or policy reform toward adoption of AWWA best practices for Water Loss Control.

If you are attending the AWWA- Sustainable Water Management Conference, you won’t want to miss Tory Wagoner’s multiple presentations:

On March 31 at 3:30 p.m.,  Tory presents “State of the States” which highlights emerging Water Loss regulations in the United States, and looks at which states are making the most progress.

At 4:30 p.m.,  Tory presents Beyond the Mandate” a powerpoint of the Statewide Water Efficiency Training Model that Cavanaugh implemented in the State of Georgia, which helped 100 small water utilities take water auditing into their own hands, and discover how stewardship really works.

At 5:00 p.m., Tory will be available to discuss the  “Water Loss Insanity” poster, which unveils the progress and case study of a small Southeast utility with unbelievable accomplishments toward reduction of Water Loss.

On April 1st at 2:00 p.m., Tory conveys:  “Widespread BMP Implementation:  Results of the Georgia Statewide Water Auditing and Efficiency Training.”  This overwhelmingly successful training program was recently awarded a 2014 Honor Award from NC/ACEC for Engineering Excellence, and is currently up for a national award.

April 6th- 7th      NCAWWA-WEA Spring Conference,   Wilmington, N.C.

April 7th at 9:10 a.m., Gus Simmons will preview his new presentation entitled “Money to Burn?  How to Capitalize on BioCNG at Your Wastewater Plant.”  Come and learn how municipal and industrial wastewater plants are generating revenue by harvesting the energy value from anaerobic digestion. 

At 1:10 p.m., Will Jernigan educates the crowd on The Town of Rutherford College’s Water Loss Implementation Program that slashed Water Loss by a Half in the first year, and its’ amazing performance results.

We were just notified that we will be receiving an award at the 2014 ACEC – Engineering Excellence Awards Gala.  We will definitely be in attendance, and don’t want to spoil the big announcement….  but, we wanted to share with you that we are thrilled to be a part of this Engineering Excellence event two years in a row!!!
