When Faith Hill invited Steve Cavanaugh to attend the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) Winston-Salem Chapter meeting, he thought he was attending to show his support of her involvement with the group. Faith is currently President-Elect of the Winston-Salem Chapter and was responsible for making the arrangements for this breakfast meeting at The Piedmont Club.

As Faith introduced the Guest Speaker for the meeting, Curtis Oldencamp, President of Lowe’s Foods, there was obvious pride on Steve’s face as he watched Cavanaugh’s Corporate Administrative Assistant demonstrate the firms’ vision of professional involvement. After Mr. Oldencamp finished speaking to the group, Faith Hill returned to the podium to announce the 2007 Executive of the Year. Faith very eloquently named off the reasons this person was named Executive of the Year. She ended by stating “...and his administrative assistant is me!” Steve was visibly shocked by the award.

Members of the Winston-Salem Chapter of IAAP submitted nominations for the 2007 Executive of the Year Award. There were six nominations for this year. An outside panel of volunteers reviewed the nominations and based on the submittals, chose Steve Cavanaugh as 2007 Executive of the Year.

Cavanaugh said “I was totally surprised, humbled and extremely honored to be named as the IAAP Executive of the Year. As I looked around the room and saw the other CEOs and executives who were also nominated, I was truly grateful and, again, humbled. I believe very strongly in what IAAP does as it relates to appropriately raising awareness of the critical role that administrative assistants play in every organization”.
